Land of Tales (Wales)
Veni, Vidi, Amavi
Or: I came, I saw, I fell in love... with Wales!
We went on a holiday there last summer, not really knowing what we would get ourselves into. It was a bit of a 'second choice' spur-of-the-moment-thing, going to this rather unknown part of the UK. We wanted Ireland, or Scotland, the great tourist pleasers, and we got... ?Wales!?
I have never been so glad to be wrong... It was absolutely brilliant! Words cannot describe it, and pictures just don't seem to do it right. Still, my silly little mind provided something and after 5 months of staring unblinkingly up at me from my (heavily cluttered) desk, I can no longer ignore it. So here goes... (unfortunately, not in Welsh)

Land of Tales
-
Where King Arthur’s knights lie asleep
Excalibur hides in the deep
The Dragon dwells in the mountains
Fairies flutter in the fountains
Trees whisper of Legend of Old
Mist veils many more tales untold
Where slopes are ruled by daring sheep
Horizons show castle or keep
Charming cottages stand alone
Fences make a patchwork with stone
Pubs promise hospitality
Welsh hearts beat forever proudly
There as I would like to surmise
a small piece of Paradise lies
a spark of eternal glory
a touch of ancient mystery
a land of never-ending tales
in mythical magical Wales

You don't have to believe me. Go see for yourself (http://www.visitwales.com). Tell the sheep I said 'Wela i chi eto', climb to the top of Snowdon Mountain and pray you don't have less than 10 meter visibility because of the fog...
Oh, and don't forget your rain coat and mud-proof shoes.
Cymru am byth!
